Happy Independence Day!

And here is the day! Child or aged, man or woman, patriotic or anti-national, whatever a person is or feels, there is a proud and a happy moment in the corner of everyone's heart on this day in everyone's life. Happy 69th Independence Day!

What our country has is precious, just realize its beauty, our country is blessed to be one of the best ones in the world in many aspects. Coming back to the point, all this is because our ancestors had the courage to stand for the wrong, to state the right and to stop resisting what was being done to them.

When I looked around the blossoming streets of Chandigarh while coming back from school, I found an essence of patriotism. A child held his hand up holding the tricolor while he was sitting on the pillion seat of a vehicle. The songs still mesmerize and echo in my mind, the tune of the national anthem makes me smile with pride. The feeling is uncontrollable and the scene can no more be explained in words. Glimpses had a real slideshow inside my mind; glimpses of struggles of martyrs, glimpses of our achievements now and what we faced in the path of progress till now; glimpses of how we can go further!

Today, if you are in the same mood, go for a movie. I have many recommendations- starting from the historical ones, the culture which was purely of kings and diversity. Such a portrayal of historical India includes Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Followed by the British rule, Lagaan (2001) and Gandhi (1982). On the partition there are a lot many films, all being heart warming and showcasing the emotional attachments. What I remember being great are Gadar (2001) and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). Years later, presenting the todays situations are Nayak (2001) and Gabbar is Back (2015). Actually, there are a lot many but these struck my mind.

There is a great way ahead to enjoy this day. Again, Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day, Pakistan!

These days create an auspicious fervor and rejuvenate everyone's mind. 14th and 15th of August remain the most patriotic and extremely important days for the two countries which everyone dreamt of under the British rule. Happy 69th Independence Day to Pakistan!

Having said this, the fact that India and Pakistan, which were once united, fought together for Independence really delights me. Without this unity and the sense of nationalism, we would not have celebrated these days. So, thanks to every Pakistani individual who fought for this day, because of which I am free to write this today. This time, let us celebrate this moment together as without each other this would have been an impossible task to achieve.

Happy Independence Day, Pakistan!

Each one, Plant one!

Resuming blogging, I am starting a campaign for trees in summers. Nothing is more important than planting a tree right now! Neither TV Shows, partying, even studying or politics or anything. There will be nothing if you don't have trees. So, this is just a small effort to save trees, our environment and humanity by reaching out to as many people as possible!

Summers are here, the ones who have to go outside for work can't help it, but the ones who are inside their cosy homes, sitting in an air conditioned room can! Just take out 15 minutes in the evening or morning. Spare out 15 minutes to protect your environment, 15 minutes to protect humans.

Plant the sapling and watch it grow. I bet it will bring you immense pleasure and pride. 15 minutes is not hard to spare. Let's not make a mistake and regret later. The immense joy of nurturing a tree is different and more than what we think and expect.

I would just say:

"Don't grow a tree if you don't need shade, don't grow a tree if you don't need food, don't grow a tree if you don't need rain, don't grow a tree if you don't need oxygen."

So, take out time in summers and send a selfie or picture of you planting a tree to kashisharora4110@gmail.com!

Entries will be taken up to a period of 2 weeks, and can be extended further if more come. The tentative last date is 8 May. For any queries, notify at the above mentioned e-mail address.

Caste and Quota - Is it really uniting people?

To overcome the differences that people created before independence, our constitution makers thought of a way of uplifting the backward class - the classes which didn't get privileges at that time. The society was divided into castes - which meant there was a disunity still. They gave the rights and privileges to some oppressed classes, alright. But, did they really think what this system can turn to become? After the introduction of many such classes over the years, are we really united? Is everyone of the same economic group getting equal rights?

People belonging to the same economic group, let it be rich, let it be poor, let it be prosperous or not, every person in the same economic group isn't of the same social group. A person may not be prosperous, but because of the special privileges given by the government is getting more benefits and opportunities for education, employment and living conditions. Is this the equality we wanted? The general group of people is left behind by a big margin because of reservation politics that is played by government. Today, really, privileges are being given to a person on basis of whether his ancestors were treated badly or not.

There surely are many people who may be earning a meager amount, not even capable of providing quality and quantity food to their families and are given special privileges, but there are people who belong to  the same economic status but are not even getting this privileges. Can the government let some people die just for votes?

Students who study day and night, work more hard than others are denied admission just because some seats are reserved for a person who just took birth in a family with extra privileges. A leader, lately, was so kind that he wanted reservations to be hiked to 80%. He really thought good about the people. But, are the others here to die? Don't they have any right to study in good institutions or have a good working facility in a reputed office.

Sadly, for the uplifting of some classes and for reservation politics, we have come to a situation that at any time the castes which are being oppressed now may demand equal rights. We have the right to speech and expression, so such a movement isn't far away.

Why do we always pick up the people which had no rights in the past and put them up so much that the others struggle and literally suffocate to live. Political parties pick up the hot issues and extend it so much for votes that a person is left with nothing to do and he is forced to accept the ugly truth. Fortunately, Supreme Court has recently said that social caste is no criteria for determining backwardness and has asked political parties to figure out other ways to determine backwardness.

So, let us have an equal society and live as brothers. Privileges should be given to a person backward economically, not a person whose ancestors were treated badly. Let us try to change the way we consider a person as backward or under-privileged!

Terror at Peshawar

The body of an innocent victim being carried.
An unfortunate day for each and every individual in the world, hearing the news of attack on 126 innocent children. I offer my sincere condolences to the families of those affected by the incident.

It is really sad on the part of the affected children and their families to face such cruelties. I don't know what Taliban thinks. What was the reason behind this attack? But I surely do know, a person from the same society loves and protests for child rights while the other does a shameful deed. That person is Malala Yousafzai, who says that she is heartbroken.

It was really shocking for me to hear about such an inhumane thing. What was the fault of these children? Rather what is the fault of every individual who becomes a victim of any such attack.

Let us fight against these terrorist groups. I hope people forget all the geographical and community borders and work together against such groups.

One minute silence and tributes held by schools across India for the victims.
Thousands of schools across India today had one-minute silence for these children. I am fortunate to have been a part of them.

God bless those children. Let them rest in peace!

Understand your Power!

Electors are the most powerful people in a democracy. If you are eligible, please vote! This vote is a medium through which your voice can reach the government. If you don't vote, it means you don't want to participate in any of the nation's activities and development.

Every single vote counts. Don't think if I don't vote, the votes of a crore people will still be there, no. Maybe, they too will think the same. And your one vote can make a party win or lose.

But, the main point is we need to understand our power! We need to use our brain for this work, if we want to contribute in the nation's progress. Don't support a party or politician blindly! Use your brain. Maybe the party is not up to the mark and is just popular. Dissolve it, Stand against it, you have all the powers, but don't support it blindly.

So, stand up and vote, stand up and dissolve the government or support the government. Just use your brain!

Media - An important factor of Democracy

Today, with what material I am writing this blog? How did I know any of the cases which I came across and wrote in the blog? Who was responsible for you all to know what happened today? How did you know which team won the match yesterday? How did you know what were the developments and ups and downs in the country? Media is the factor.

Media is a necessary unit of any country. I believe we remain nothing without a newspaper in the morning. We actually are ignoring the world if we don't like to read the newspaper. If the newspaper is even 5 minutes late, I get restless. I have the hunger of reading news. Without media, I would have known nothing.

A country's media should be independent; acting as a good watchdog of the ruling party. Sharing the true facts, viewpoints of people and so on. It is the media which connects us to the world. But, if this media is only scolded up then what is the advantage? Yes, cases of police beating the media are coming up lately. Is this right? If they have violated rules, then yes! But I believe these matters should be solved verbally till where it is possible.

We should understand the importance of media - including newspaper, television, radio, the internet!

Without media, we are isolated from the whole world!
